Guangzhou Complete Equipment Sets Import Quantity Increase by 355% in First Months of 2014
From January to May of 2014, the complete equipment sets imported from Guangzhou ports increase substantially on a year-on-year basis, reaching 3664 batches, with a total value of 484,000,000, increased by 355%, compared with the same period of last year. Yet, it was reported that, along with the pour in of imported equipment, unqualified product batch quantity was increasing. Guangzhou CIQ found 104 batches of imported complete equipment sets unqualified, with a total value of 22,426,600 US dollars, which was 13 times and 35 times of the figure of a year earlier.
Why the import quantity of complete equipment sets at Guangzhou port increases substantially? Basically, there all two main reasons. One is that, Guangzhou is accelerating industrial transformation and upgrade. A number of major science projects, involving electronic information, advance manufacturing, software, cartoon, biology and so, are occupying commanding heights of new industries successively. The other is that, the required imported equipments of major projects and large base construction in Guangzhou are increasing.
It is reported that, according to twelfth five-year planning, Guangzhou accumulative arranges 141 major high-end industry projects, with a total invest amount of 340.1 billions yuan. At present, Syntonic Type High Power Locomotive Build & Repair Base, ST Aerospace Airplane Repair Base, China Southern Locomotive Build & Repair Base, Zhongchuan Longxue Ship-Building Base, GAC GROUP Self-owned Brand Automobile, Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicles Production Expand and other major industrial project constructions are going smoothly, while the start-up construction of the 190 single tasks in 18 projects of 5 big categories of Zhongxin Guangzhou Knowledge City are being launched. Guangzhou CIQ claims that they will coordinate and supervise the import of complete equipment sets to better service local economic developments.
