Wet blue leather, also known as dressed leather, normally has been layer stripped but not yet been dried, trimmed and dyed. It is semi-finished, blue and with with moisture.
Seahog logistics has been helping clients import leather. Recently we helped import a shipment with wet blue goat leather from Kenya, a shipment with blue wet sheep leather from Sudan, and a shipment with blue cow leather from Bangladesh. The three shipments were all imported via Huangpu port, Guangzhou where Seahog helped handle the clearance and arranged the delivery to Zhaoqing and Dongguan city respectively. We shared the relevant China customs declaration sheets and some pictures taken at the inspection spot.
Some Notes for the China import customs clearance of leather.
1.The basic documents required: sea/air waybill, invoice, packing list, sales contract, certificate of origin if the exporting country can enjoy preference tariff), the necessary details of the goods for declaration purpose.
2.It is very important to make clear whether whole hide or not, layer stripped or not, full grain or not.
3.For blue wet leather, the import procedures are more complex and the inspection and quarantine requirements are more strict. Certificate of origin and Animal Inspection and Quarantine Certificate or Veterinary Certificate are required. In the case that the leather is from endangered wildlife, import permit related to endangered species is required.
