Import Cases: How to Handle the Importation and China customs Clearance of Used Furniture
Chinese market has been sought after import furniture in recent years. The quantity of the Chinese enterprises that act as agents of foreign future brands has been increasing. What is more, some big supermarkets have started to import furniture brands from Europe and USA intensively. Here comes one question: can second-hand/used furniture be imported to China? The answer is yes.

We share three China customs declaration sheets for imported second-hand furniture. The first one was for a shipment with Italian used furniture, cleared by Seahog¡¯s Shanghai customs agent team. Based on our rich experience in handling China customs declaration for used furniture, we will would to share the basic required documents for importing used furniture : packing list, invoice, sales contract, sea/air waybill, declaration elements like name of furniture, brand, model, manufacturer, weight, dimensions, materials, usage etc,. Also we have to mentioned that other documents will be required in below circumstances:
1.Certificate of origin, some customs districts require it, for example Tianjin customs
2.Phytosanitary certificate for furniture made of wood, some customs districts in Guangzhou require it t.
3.CITES for furniture made of endangered wood, red siamese furniture, for example
4.CCC certificate and/or energy efficiency label, mainly for lamps and lanterns and household electrical appliance.
We also want to highlight below key points that foreign exporters and Chinese importers of used furniture shall be aware of and pay attention to:
1.It is always suggested to use a professional China customs agent
2.It is very important to get the used furniture cleaned so as to avoid being judged by China customs as solid waste which will lead to huge amount of fines and being returned.
3.Many South American countries and Southeast Asia countries issue official documents in hand-written format which easily have mistakes. So it is better to send the scan copy of the required docs to the China customs broker in advance for preview so as to spot and correct the mistake in time and to ensure there will be no delay in initiating China customs declarations.
4.Before shipping, consult with the China customs agency company to choose a suitable port of discharge where the customs has less documentation requirements.
5.If the shipment contains lamps and lanterns, shall check if the supplier can provide CCC certificate or not, or check if the China customs clearance agent can fix the CCC certificate issue.
