In October,2013, import timber arrival quantity at Shanghai port were relatively small, because it was close to end of the year and contracts had been partially delivered. Totally, Shanghai port imported 1,118,900 m³, increased by 21.34% from previous month, and rose by 35.10% compared with last October. Therein, boards 366200 m³, logs 329200 m³, square log 423500 m³.
Imported spruce in that October were mainly from Russia, Ukraine and Latvia. Russia timber import ncreased considerably, reached 84000 m³, rose by 101.91% from September. South East Asia timber import quantity was very small, just 15100, decrease by 52.37% from previous month. North America timber import quantity was 681200 m³, rose by 41.30% from September. Africa Pterocarpuserinaceus Poir had certain quantity import. The monthly import of Africa timber was 132300 m³, increased by 17.5% from previous month. South America import quantity decreased by 18.91% and to 208900 m³. And it was reported that Shanghai port would witness a large quantity import South America Snakewood.
The precious timber imported this month mainly included fabaceae,burmatulip wood, and Asiatic rosewood. And Africa rosewood imported were mainly originated from Benin, Ivory Coast, and Ghana.
